How to Enable/Disable Cash Drawer/Cash Box in SalesPlay POS

A properly configured and connected POS system should trigger the opening of the cash drawer/cash box/cash till seamlessly. The cash drawer open option is configured within the POS App’s printer setup page.

It’s essential to assign the correct payment methods to ensure the system recognizes and authorizes the opening of the cash drawer for transactions. Some payment methods may require specific configurations to activate the cash drawer.

How to Set Up a Cash Drawer

This feature allows users to turn the cash drawer on or off.

Steps:

  1. Open the POS App main menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Printers.
  4. Click Add (+) or edit an existing printer setup.
  5. Tick Connect Cash Drawer with Printer.
  6. Click Save.

 

How to Enable/Disable Cash Drawer for Different Payment Types

This feature allows users to turn the cash drawer on or off for specific payment methods.

Example:
For card payments, some businesses may require the cash drawer to open, while others may keep it off.

Steps:

  1. Login to POS Back Office Webportal.
  2. Select Settings from the main menu.
  3. Go to Payment Types.
  4. Click the relevant payment type.
  5. Click the drop-down button near Additional Options.
  6. Tick ON or OFF the Cash Drawer Enable button.
  7. Click Update.

 

 

How to Open Cash Drawer Manually

The cash drawer/cash box/till is programmed to open for specific functions, including cash transactions, cash refunds, credit settlements, shift openings, and shift closures.

If you need to manually open the cash drawer for other reasons:

Steps:

  1. Open the POS App main menu.
  2. Select New Sale.
  3. Click the 3-dot button in the upper-right section.
  4. Click Open Drawer.

Note: To display the Open Drawer button, the user must activate the Shift Management function via the Back Office Webportal Feature section.

What if the Cash Drawer Does Not Open?

  • Ensure the Cash Drawer Open option is properly configured in the printer setup page.
  • Verify the cash drawer cable is securely connected to the POS terminal.
  • Check the cable for any damage or loose connections.
  • Assign the correct payment methods to authorize cash drawer opening.
  • Some payment methods may require specific configurations to activate the cash drawer.
  • Double-check that the cash drawer cable is connected to the correct port on the POS terminal.
